This individual who claims to be a representative of "International Betting Gaming Lottery Company" called my telephone, asked for me by addressing me by my first and last name, and suggested that she received my number/information from my telephone service provider (she also said the name of the provider). She indicated to me that I have won 3rd prize in the amount of $1.5 million dollars and that I needed to call a number (876) 466-3197 to claim my prize. When I asked her what I did to be entered to win the prize in the first place, she kept saying "call the number and they will tell you". She also gave me a check number of #002005 which was supposed to be the number written on my 1.5 million dollar check. I hung up the phone with her immediately knowing that it was fraudulent, and that she was calling from another country indicated by her heavy Carribean accent. About five minutes later, my phone rang again and it was her, asking why I hadn't called the number yet. I then asked "is there a cost to me to call the number?" She said that it was a $2.50 connection charge to call the number and those were the only charges I would incur, but that it would be nothing to the $1.5 million dollars I was scheduled to receive. She hung up the phone with me after immediately encouraging me to call the number right away because they wanted to get my check cut out to me by 4pm today. I looked on the Internet to see if anyone else had reported a similar incident, to no avail, and within 5 more minutes, my telephone was ringing again. Again she asked why I hadn't called the number yet and that I needed to do so immediately or else I wouldn't get my check today. I asked her why she kept calling my phone and she said "Mam I am trying to get you your money as soon as possible or if you want, we can donate the money to charity on your behalf". I indicated to her that I would like her to donate my money to charity and she said "Ohhhh the charity will be delighted to have the money" as if she was really ecstatic for them. She must've realized that I would not give into her fraud and then wanted to get me off the telephone by offering to donate my prize to charity.
*please do not give into a scam over the telephone! You should never have to call in to claim a prize, nor should you not be able to find (on the internet) the company that is giving you the prize. Please be smart when dealing with people because everyone is out for the mighty dollar and will do whatever it takes to get it! I have been scammed twice before by people who seemed to be kind people selling items on auction sites. Do not let the next victim be you!!! *
