Never place your child in this district if you have any expectations for them to succeed - IN ENGLISH!!! The district caters only to a bunch of Mexicans, for the sake of a $!! They enroll students who speak no English and shove them into a classroom where they can not mainstream, understand, or interact with others. But the teachers are blamed for their failure.
The district laid off many long time African-American teachers, only to import foreigners who don't speak fluent English and bunch of young White teachers from a program called Teach For America. These teachers don't understand that they are only hired to fill a quota and make the district look good! But now you know...
In addition, the district has given more jobs to non-qualified Mexican teachers only because they are bilingual, and pay them $5000 more even though they themselves can not teach the students fluent English! How backwards is this!!!
Did you know that teachers are blamed when students don't come to school? Did you know that the district only cares about your child when their little bodies are present because they get money? Did you know that all students are tested and counted, even if they can't read, write, speak, or understand English - and the teacher gets the blame for the school's failure? Did you know that some schools don't even offer field trips for the students? What a waste of education, right!!??
I'd say that people need to do more investigating school districts and their policies and less blaming the teachers for all the mishaps that go on. Check into whether your child's teacher speaks and understands fluent English before they try to teach it! Check into the hiring practices of the district and compare ethnic ratios of teachers. I guarantee most of the African American teachers are no more! Also check to see whether your child's teacher is "highly qualified". I guarantee you most of the Mexican teachers are NOT credentialed. And most of all, ask the district what price tag your child holds on his/her back when they are present and how much in the negative the district is when your child is absent! I guarantee this will be an eye opener. Its not the teachers' faults, trust me on this one! We're all fair game... Peace!!
