Complaint / Review
Steinhausen Direct
Ripoff

This company has ads in numerous magazines. I picked mine from PC Report and I ordered the Steinhausen Siver watch for $14.99 S/H ($20.00). The watch came next day just to realize it was not working, so I called them back to return it. They agreed and sent me a UPS label which I used it when I sent the watch back for repair.
While the watch was in their custody I recived a letter from another company who informd me that next month they will start billing my credid card in 4 (four) installments of $45.00.

It is then when I realized I was tricked, and the $14.99 S/H were for "trial only". The real price of the watch I ordered was $200.00 (!). This price was nowhere disclosed inside the add I read. Anyway, I called them back and asked them to keep the watch as I wantd to exercise my right to cancell the order. They said Ok, give me a "cancelation number" but... Suprise, thy sent me the watch back!

I put it on the account of some misunderstanding so I called them back and asked them again to cancell my order. They agreed and gave me the same "cancellation number" (think of it as a RMA). After that I shipped the item back on my expense using a tracking confirmation service.

All above story happened within the 30 days from my initial order. Just when those 30 days completed they sent me the watch back, unsolicited, as if I have ordered it. Next day I was on the phone with one of their representatives who explained me I was outside the 30 days trial period and I could not return the watch anymore!

When I tried to explain I have actually cancelled my order within those 30 days and I have actually sent the watch back within that time frame they replied there is no trace in their system regarding such thing! Obviously they were lying!

There was no way to reason with them on this subject I was forced to hang up the phone. All I could do was to notify Federal Trade Comission (at www.ftc. Gov) about this incident and pray that they will solve my case favourable (for me, of course:-).

If you have been the target of a fraud and you do believe justice is on your side, don't hesitate to notify the "federal comission trade" about the incident. The more information is gathered about a company the more will draw their attention and eventually promt them to take action. Their website is www.ftc. Gov
