My son signed up for the "free" credit report using my credit card on 5/21/04, with my permission. He stated that he received the credit report via e-mail. He stated that he sent an email to the company to cancel it afterwards because he was not satisfied and no longer needed the service. He was unable to find a phone number to call and cancel it verbally.
However, I continued to be charged $9.95 on 5/21/04,6/21/04,7/21/04, and 8/21/04 for "credit monitoring".in Sept. 04, I contacted CIC to find out what this charge was and to cancel it. I informed them that this charge was not authorized and requested a refund. On 11/17/04, I contacted my credit card co. And CIC to cancel this again. I have completed a dispute form with my credit card co.
I called CIC again today (11/30/04) to inquire as to why I was still being charged for this. The employee was rude and stated that nothing could be done about this charge (that they could not refund my money). I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told basically the same thing. I then requested my son to contact them since he is the one who originally requested the "free" credit report. He was advised by CIC to complete a letter of complaint. This will be done.
