I know that they are waiting for this to pass the timeframe of which to compensate me on top of this... I was looking forward to a MA degree in Product design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I was told to re-submit my portfolio into the Fashion deptartment to have an MA in fashion design instead, because this was my undergraduate major (and like a fool i did this.) I was very low on money and my parents helped me to move to Savannah Georgia from Chicago. I was accepted into the school, we were very excited, I used the federal student aid support to fund my education and to rent an apartment in Savannah of which I loved!
Things were great. I attended classes on time, did good work and before mid terms was told i was not recieving any college credit for my work and money. I called my graduate acidemic adviser and she no longer worked there... Then was screamed at by another represenitive of the school, making it difficult to understand what was going on. I was told a few diffrent things and when I asked for specific information of how to still stay enrolled I was informed to drop out of the school and to request my portfolio. So i did. This was 2003 September-October. I spoke with another student who could barely afford books and another who had tried to dispute fees and could only afford to live on the street in order to afford to still attend the college. I tried to pre-register for classes for the next term and to (hang on) but no classes were available as well as being denied to fill an elective in French.
In April i was finally refunded 300.00 for a computer class that I had dropped at the onset of this, in September. I recently spoke to the acedemic department and dean of the school and they just now informed me that i was taking pre-required coarses... WHY didn't they tell me this in September? I had to leave Savannah and now have a federal student debt, for zero college credit. I am very unstable financially because I was looking forward to a career.
Any suggestions? I have made so many calls not only to FAFSA in the fraud department and they told me that the Savannah College of Art and Design has filed in such a way that no one can sue them or at least make it nearly impossable. I am homeless, jobless and quite exasperated by now.
