Complaint / Review
Leather World
Ripoff, lying, dishonest, theives, Atlanta

I write this in exasperation hoping to explain to you what kind of predicament I am placed in at my current time. On July 18th I purchased three separate reclining Berkline model 099 chairs from Leather World Fine Furniture located at 6218 Dawson Blvd in Norcross, GA, with the promise from Jeannie Davis, our salesperson that our product would be delivered between 4 to 6 weeks at a total price of $914.25 which was paid through my Bank Card on July 18th. With much anticipation, I waited patiently for six weeks and after numerous calls to Leather World, received a very curt call from Anthony, the manager at Leather World, on August 27th, almost the full six week wait, saying that only two pieces were ready for delivery and the third piece would take another 4 to 6 weeks including a separate delivery charge that was never agreed on by our original agreement, under original agreement, delivery charge was waived. After several attempts to understand why I would need to pay extra delivery charge on a product that was going to take twice as long as originally promised, with a very rude and condescending behavior, Anthony (manager) suggested that I take this matter up with the credit card company and if I would like to cancel the order I was free to do so through the bank by reporting that promised merchandized was not delivered. I immediately called my Bank to lodge a dispute in the charge. After reporting my dispute Jeannie called to convince us to still purchase the product. However, as I explained the rude comments and unpleasant conversation with Anthony, she gladly apologized for the situation and said she would talk to the owner to close the matter and return our deposit. I now considered the matter closed and it would only be a matter of time before my bank would investigate and compensate me for the down payment. I went to Evolution Home Theatre days later and purchased the same product from a very courteous and attentive employee.

I have been going on with my life thinking that everything worked out the way it was supposed to and promised, when I received a letter from Leather World on October 29th stating that if I did not pick up my merchandise within the next fifteen days my deposit of $914.25 would be forfeit and they would sell the merchandise.in shock, I called my bank to learn that their investigation noted that on October 20th they inquired Leather World and they responded that they had our merchandise ready for delivery so they would not be canceling our order, effectively denying my dispute charge.

Facing the possibility of ending up with six separated reclining chairs, I called up Jeannie Davis from Leather World again to find out what happened. She indicated that she was not aware of such letter sent to me; she now indicated that it is corporate matter and she now does not have the authority to do anything. She also denied any comments and promises she previously made regarding the cancellation and crediting the deposit. She clearly told me that if I did not receive the down payment as reference above immediately after our conversation in September, she no longer would be willing to credit the deposit. Then she changed her story and told me that when she said she was sorry and would talk to the owners she had not meant that she would talk about the order but rather Anthonys behavior and she or Anthony did not have the authority to cancel orders. Frustrated that I was lied to in the fact that none of them ever had the authority to cancel when Anthony himself told us that we would be able to, I asked for contact information regarding the owners of the store since Jeannie said they would be the only ones with such authority, but refused to give out any contact information to the 4 owners of the Leather World, Sam Kline, Berry Gold, Eddy Yebra, and Ray Yebra. I was now stuck in the situation in an unknown territory due to Leather World not keeping their verbal contract. I have no other option but to contact you directly and ask for assistance in this manner and teach Leather World that they cannot treat customers however they please and make empty promises. Thank you for you time and I hope you will be able to help me.
