The RoomStore ripoff - scam artists - delivers defective furniture and salesman does not care to educate customers on measuring the outside doors too

My and husband and I just purchased a new home. Off to the RoomStore we went to buy new furniture. We purchased a four post canopy bed, dresser w/mirror and night table and had ordered a sectional sofa for the family room. We were told that the sectional sofa would take at least 6 weeks before delivery. However, we receive the bedroom set the next week. The Bedroom set was $2,000 and the Sofa was a little over $1,000.

The bed they delivered had no footposts. The guys set up the bed anyway. Well, after the delivery men left the house, my husband touched the bed slightly with one finger and the entire bed calapsed. If we were in the bed, the headboard alone would have crushed us. I called the RoomStore back and customer service rep said that she couldn't call the delivery men because they were out delivering other furniture and that they will be back on tomorrow. I told her if they don't come back tonite, that the Attorney General will be there on tomorrow. The delivery men came back later on that day.

I watch them while they put the bed back together. I notice that there were no nails in the bed to secure the bed from falling. They had propped the mattress board on top of each other without ensuring its safety. The delivery guy assumed that the footposts were left behind and he was coming back the next day to finish assembling and securing the bed. I informed customer service of this and they apologize. They were going to order the footposts and take off $60.00 for the delivery.

Four weeks later we received the footposts by UPS. I called the RoomStore to inform them of our receipt of the footposts. They told me that a Technican will be there to fix it. About two weeks later, the tech came out and he could not fix the posts. The posts were defective. It had no joints to connect the post into the base of the bed. Three weeks later we received the joints. I informed customer service that we had received the joints by UPS. Two weeks later a tech came out to fix the bed. Again, the Tech could not fix it.

The manufacturer had sent the wrong type of joints and the joints were the wrong color. The collar on the bed is bronze and the they had sent a black collar. The technician said he will suggest in his report that the manufacture send a fully assembled footposts the next time. Until this day there is no refund on the delivery charge and we are without the footposts.

On the eighth week, we received the sectional sofa set. The sofa could not get thru the doors from the outside. The delivery man said that I will have to take off the doors so that furniture can get in the house. I wasn't in no position to do that. I told them to return the furniture since it couldn't get into the house. They blamed me for not measuring the doors before I purchased this set. I'm no idiot, the area in which the furniture was to go was large enough for it. How would I have known that the furniture couldn't get through the outside doors?

I thought all doors were standard size. The sales people should have informed me to measure outside doors. The sales people know of similar situations where this has happened. He gets his commission anyway and I don't have the furniture. I dont buy furniture everyday and I could not have known to measure the outside doors. I only measured the area where the set was going. I knew, that this area was large enough.

The RoomStore called asked me to pick out something else. I refused. There is nothing there I want. Most of their sofas are oversized, larger than the set I purchased. I was aware of the 10% restocking fee. Now I won't get a full refund on my down payment. They are charging me for delivery $60.00 and the full price on the fabric protection. If you live in my area, most home have the same size doors. Don't buy from the RoomStore because you will get defective furniture and some sofas will not fit thru the doors.
