Selling bad and refurbished knock off LED and other light bulbs

You should be VERY careful dealing with this seller! He is NOT honourable OR ethical. See the text, and images on my weblink. The PROOF is on this page so it is NOT slander. I will put up with an awful lot of crap. But when a seller tries to hold a refund "ransom", they have gone too far. This page is up to warn others about this seller. It is not about blackmail. It is all about honesty. Something this seller seems to lack. It took me a lot of time to put the page together but I want to be sure people know what they are getting into if they deal with him. It is NOT to try and get money out of him. I already got a refund from him. (After a LOT of effort.)

I purchased thee GU10 LED lamps from him through ebay. It was item number 150419483298. And here is a direct link: http://cgi. Ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI. Dll? ViewItem&item=150419483298&ssPageName=STRK: MEWNX: IT

When they arrived, one had fallen apart in the mail. (There was NO damage on the outside of the parcel and the bulbs were well packed. So this is NOT a Post Office issue.) There was almost NO evidence of any glue between the LED board and the glass housing. A second one of the lamps failed within a few days of use. Half of the LED's would go off and on. Eventually, that half stayed off permanently. ONE of THREE continues to work three weeks later.

I contacted the seller. He tells me they "double check" all the lights before shipping and, he asks me to send him photos. Which I did. He then replies and says that because they "double check" all the lights before shipping, he wants me to ship the defective bulbs back to him at my expense and he will give me replacements. I check at the post office and it's going to cost more to send the duds back than I paid for them. I tell him this. He dances around the issue. Accuses me of lying about the postage.

Next email, emails he suggests I am lying about the defective bulbs. And about the cost of the postage to return the defective lights to him. Then he tells me he has had other Canadians send all of the lamps back to him for less postage than I am seeing on the Canada Post website. (NOTE: So, here he admits he has had other defective product sent back to him.in spite of his claims that they "double check" all the lights before shipping.)

Then he goes on to tell me he needs the defective bulbs back so he can "fix" them and "reduce his loss" by re-selling them as second hand. Well, he doesn't HAVE any "second hand" items on his site. So where is he selling them? Now I'm left wondering if my bulbs were "fixed" before I got them? I don't know. But after he told me he resells the "fixed" product, I am suspicious.

I tell him that selling refurbished product as new is illegal in Canada and the US. That the goods must be marked as "refurbished" and the customer must be told this. I get no reply to my message. I finally get fed up with him and file a PayPal claim stating I want a full refund. He tells me he sees the claim, and that I should only communicate with him through the PayPal dispute form.

Then HE sends me a "ransom note" telling me he'll give me a full refund but only if I promise to leave him Positive feedback and 5 stars in all 4 topics in the feedback section. I respond telling him to put his "offer" officially in the PayPal dispute form. He does not do this.

By now I'm really fed up with him and start digging into his negative feedbacks. A buyer in Australia left him negative feedback because "rubbish 1 caught on fire 4 stopped working in the first couple of weeks" (Please note: ALL of his sales are "private". This is NOT done here to protect your identity as when buying "naughty bits" on eBay. It's done to prevent present or prospective buyers from figuring out WHAT a person bought, that they were not happy with.) I contact the buyer in Australia.in spite of the comment from the seller in feedback that he offered a refund, the buyer has never received one. He feels he's been "ripped off". I feel his pain.

Nothing happens for a few days. Then he sends me an email telling me he is issuing a refund but that he expects me to give him 5 star positive feedback. He tells me he can't put a response in the PayPal dispute form. That there is no way to do this because I asked for a full refund. This is simply not true. I have ASKED buyers to file disputes asking for a refund so I could make a claim against PayPal for product lost in the mail. I was able to respond and even post files (photos) to PayPal so they could see receipts, etc. What is really happening is that he doesn't want me to "spill the beans" to PayPal about what he is doing. The refurbished product. The ransom notes. Etc. Etc.

So ask yourself:

How "honest" is this sellers feedback rating when he won't issue a refund unless you promise to leave him 5 star positive feedback? How many "positive" feedbacks are you reading that were only placed there in order to get a refund? How many feedbacks are simply not there at all so the buyer could get a refund? Will you be happy leaving him positive feedback just so you can get your money back? Are you happy with paying to ship defective goods back to him when it appears he may be selling refurbished goods as new?

If his quality is as bad as it appears it is to me - with 2 out of 3 defective - are you happy PAYING FOR HIS QUALITY CONTROL IMPROVEMENTS by paying to ship the duds back to him? Do you like the concept of "ransom notes"??? Look at his comments on his negative feedbacks below. If he ships junk but gives you a refund, and you leave negative feedback, you are a "BAD BUYER. BLOCK!" buyer. If you leave negative or neutral feedback about the product, it's YOUR (buyer) fault for not contacting him. Even though some buyers subsequently say they DID contact him but received no response.

It's pretty clear, the only negative feedbacks that get posted are the ones left before he has a chance to buy them off with a refund under a promise you will leave positive feedback. It's your choice. A note regarding paying to return goods to seller. It is standard practice for a buyer to pay for return shipping on an item that goes bad under the warranty period. This is an industry standard, worldwide. If product arrives damaged or broken, it is the post offices fault. You go after the post office in this case.

However, it is a completely different thing to have to pay to return "Dead on Arrival" items. Especially when it becomes evident that the seller sends out a LOT of defective stuff and then hides the fact with unethical activities. Under these circumstances, the seller should pay to get the item (s) back, so he can investigate what failed in an effort to improve product quality. This guy just uses it as a means to get the item back, fix it, and resell it. And he may not find the fault and actually fix it. So the "world" becomes his "test and quality control department".

Important note: The location of the seller has NOTHING to do with this complaint page. Racism and/or ethnic background also has NOTHING to do with this issue. I would not care if he was two houses south of me, in Canada. It has EVERYTHING to do with his own honesty and ethics. And that is a worldwide issue.
