I called Arc-USA Appliance Service for evaluation of an older refrigerator for repair in Glendale. This was through their phone number 818-500-1877 (note thisoffice also uses 818-989-4108). I was told a field estimate would cost $29.00. The technician told my elderly father that he couldn'tevaluate the compressor without installing a relay first. This he did, and then determined the compressor was shot, and would cost $750.00 to replace. Since we could get a new unit for about the same, wedeclined.
The technician then insisted my father pay $33.10 plus tax for the useless relay, saying he couldn't resell it since it had been installedonce, and thus charged him a total of$65.00.
I called Ross at their office to complain about the increasedcharge for a useless part, and was brushed off with "if you knew anythingabout refrigeration, etc...". The bottom line is you shouldn't charge for a part unlessyou complete a repair. I would not use this company again.
