Stay away from these people that is all I could say right now. The Touchstone Group Chicago is owned by Courtland Townsley and Blake Townsley and they are the rudest and condescending people I have ever met oh and they are so full of greed.
I don't even have the energy to write all the wrong they have done to my family.
Most importantly: a week we move in the apartment, there was a bed bug infestation. We have never have bed bugs infestation in the past 25 years. We complained but were told that they can't do anything. They blamed it on us... So my question to Touchstone was that if we transported the bed bugs from our last apartment to their apartment wouldnt we have the same problem with old Apartment complex? We live at the old apartment complex for years and never heard of bed bugs until we moved in their units. Oh wait, They will also charge you to exterminate the infestation. Isnt that crazy???
First, say good bye to your security deposit, they will send you a bill at the end stating that they repaired the walls and painted the apartment, even though these problems existed when we moved in. They documented everything with pictures and emails to the management office but still now 14 days after the lease was offer we got an email stating that they repainted the apartment and the bills were almost $1000. Are you kidding me?
Second, welcome them in your house whenever they want. They entered our unit whenever they want without notice during the whole year. We complained about it but nothing happened. It became worst 3 months before the end of the lease because it states in their lease agreement that they could show up at your door step with 15 minutes of prior notice. They opened the door on us without knocking, moved our stuff when we were gone etc We should've read the lease in its entirety! But again we learned from this to do so next time.
Third, unresponsiveness to maintenance report. One night the ceiling starting dreeping water, we called them and no response. 3 days later they told us to contact the building that they are nor responsible. Now they are charging us the hole in the ceiling and all the damages that incident created. Enough said. Stay away they will suck you dry.
We could take them to court but it is not worth the time and effort. All I can do is to write this report so that people won't fall in their scams. Again please stay away from http://touchstonechicago.com/about-us/, and the Owner Blake Townsley and Courtland Townsley.
If you live in one of their unit good luck! If you are think about renting the following unit, please rethink and read every single line in the lease aggreement: 182 W. Lake Unite #802,200 N. Dearborn St. Unit 1905, Unit 1304, Unit 1602, Unit 1604,3758 W Fullerton. Or if you are thinking about hiring them to manage your proprety! Do not! They are not reliable.
