Takes your money, fails to deliver service promised internet

We ordered two pallets of sod from this company. Their online ordering allows you to choose delivery dates which, when you call them, you find have "no meaning". That means after ordering online, then learning that although we scheduled for a certain date, that was just "not at all possible". So, we rescheduled. When delivery day came, the installers arrived significantly ahead of schedule. While I was at home, and this didn't create a big problem, I was not happy to think that, had I been away from home our installers would have had no idea where to do the work on our yard. Regardless, the installation went fine. The workers were pleasant and seemed well-informed. The sod was in superb condition. No complaints there. However, while I paid for cultivation, I did not receive that service. They simply used a weed whacker to remove existing vegetation (also a separate service I paid for) and then laid the sod. I didn't complain about that to them — should have, but just didn't want to battle. When they were preparing to leave, I stated that the website clearly stated that rolling the lawn with a fifty pound drum was part of the service included in the installation fees I'd paid. They stated that they'd have to come back for that because the sod needed to have "a hour of watering before rolling." That may be the case, but they could have been running our sprinklers in the back the entire hour they were installing the front sod. AND, interestingly, I didn't see any sign of a rolling device on their truck. I think they were surprised I knew about the rolling, and were caught without the tool. The initial install was on a Tuesday. They promised to come back Thursday for the rolling work. They did not come. I called the NY offices and asked about it. I was told they were very busy and would try to come in the next day or so, "or Monday or Tuesday at the latest." Well, after no one showed up Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, OR Tuesday, I called again. I was told someone would come Wednesday. No one came.By this time I have no patience or good will remaining for this company. I called again. Talked with Michael, and then a supervisor. They just kept stating that they'd come when they got around to it, and that there was nothing more they could do about it. I explained to the supervisor that this was work that should have been done during the initial install eleven days prior and that our grass was puffy and needed the rolling which was clearly stated to be included in the install fee I'd paid. I also explained that we'd decided to replace another four pallets of sod, and that I was quickly losing faith that they firm could do the job without a hassle. His response was that "I hate to say it, but if you'd order more, we'd come out and get the rolling work on the first batch done more quickly." Unbelieveable. I paid for the service. They aren't providing it. BUT give us another couple thousand dollars and we'll probably try to fix our first job??? Seriously. So, today my husband has fashioned our own rolling device using an old lawn mower frame, large coffee cans and weights from an old weight set — he spent hours constructing it and is now out rolling the yard. Yes, I am very displeased to think that we paid to avoid doing the work ourselves and end up doing a part of it anyway. I consider this to be theft of services and will be talking with our credit card company to see if we can arrange any compensation for such dismal dealings.
