We signed a contract in OCTOBER. They decided not to did before winter, so we got started in MAR.
Some guy calls himself the project manager, comes to our driveway and says "sign this"... It is a list of excavation details, including a statement that they were "raising the pool" several inches above our back porch (note that the pool is about 20 feet from the porch and there is a slope downward from the porch. He said -it must be done - with NO EXPLAINATION of the impact of this...
What it did was make their excavation easier, and left me with a FORTUNE in building a retaining wall, bigger deck, and delaying everything! There is now a FOUR FOOT DROP off the back and sides of the pool! All that needs to be filled-in!!! The filter and heater were installed close to the pool, and DOWN BELOW THE DECK LEVEL! We cant even bring in fill until they fix that! (and they are not returning calls now!).
Their project manager only showed up the first day to collect a $HUGE check, and then to secretly try and take pictures after we complained to the company! He never even comes to the door to talk.
My wife did get to talk to them. The guy on the phone said "we don'y usually involve the lady of the house on decisions like the elevation against ground"!!! YET THEY FORCED HER TO SIGN EVERYTHING IN THE CONTRACT (AS "AND")...
Their faiilure to explain the issue that their OWN decision about raising our pool caused is costing us thousands of dollars more now... And raising the pool DID NOT HAVE TO HAPPEN! We confirmed this with two landscapers/building contractors!
They now have nearly every PENNY of their fees (as you know, they do NOTHING without the payments up front and before they woudl do tile/coping, they demanded a second $HUGE payment)... AND WE STILL NEED the plaster!
They should be held accountable for the things they do. Most customers, including us, have NOT experienced this process before, and we were ripped off by their people scamming us on things that they did to be cheap, and not describing impact to our total cost, or our design.
Recommendation: DO NOT USE THEIR SUBs. Other reports seem to be accurate about their subs. Do not pay them until they do the work to satisfaction. Do not let them do to you what they have done to us.
