Carpet Mills of America uses incompetent installers and then won't back up their work when problems arise. We hired Carpet Mills of America on January 21 to install ceramic tile in two bathrooms. Although the tile itself looks nice and appears okay, the installer was extremely messy and sloppy with his work. Baseboards, door frames and doors were damaged, scraped and nicked. Concrete dust and grout are all over the cabinets, dooors, walls, and baseboards. He made little or no attempt to clean up his mess. He used no drop cloths of any kind.
Additionaly, the installer broke the water pipe for our toilet. It cannot be used and it will take a licensed plumber to fix due to the extent of the damage. That is very expensive. I was not home when the installer completed the job and I had asked him to wait so I could do a walk thru inspection which is what I was promised. He declined to wait and left before I got there despite the fact that I left work early to meet him. This is not the right way to do business. I called our salesman and he reffered me to the Operations Center. They orginally said they would send someone out but later called and stated that they were not responsible and the toilet was our problem now and that no one would be coming out to fix it.
I called the corporate headquarters in Richardson and the Dallas District Manager. They don't return phone calls at all and when you do get a hold of someone, they either give you the run around or say they are not responsible. They do not use fair business practices and they disrepect you and your home when hired to do a job. Do not ever use Carpet Mills of America. If you do, add about $200 - $250 to the estimate for clean up and damage repair.
