My husband and I were completely taken by a man who claimed to be something he wasnt. He lied, cheated and stole his way into a home improvement project at my house. I checked him out on the BBB and he had a B rating, and it stated it was only a B because of the length of time hed been in business. Ive since found out that he is in trouble with the law for many things. Fraudulent checks, DUI, eviction and non-payment of rent among other things. He uses many names and even uses his girlfriends name at times. There is even a warrant currently out for his arrest. He was to be the general contractor for the entire project of new roof and siding after some storms hit us with damage. He told us he was licensed and hes not. He told us he was insured and hes not. He never pulled permits but told me that they werent needed and they are. He told me my roof didnt need sheeting under the shingles and they do. What were left with is a roof thats not code, warranty, or insurance compliant, he destroyed 2 bedrooms with water damage, caused several liens against my property due to bounced checks and has no general liability insurance to cover the damages or solve the problem. Plus, his roof leaked into my attic and I now have insulation and sheetrock that never got cleaned up and is at risk of serious rot/mold. He never started the siding but still has all my money for. He hasn't paid the lumberyard for the roofing materials as he bounced two checks there. He never checked for lead paint and my house was built in 1920. He tried to fix the ceilings on his own and they look like terrible and werent completed properly. He broke a window in my room during his attempted repairs and its still broken. I had to sleep on my son's bottom bunk for nearly 2 weeks while we tried to fix things. My daughter was sleeping on the floor because it was her room was also destroyed. We're still trying to get her room back in order. There are many more details that are too lenghthy to provide here.
