Im writing to dispute $598.50. The original amount of the work was $798.50. On 3/24/10 there was a sewage back up in our rental property. The renter ChaddWarwick called me and said his company had worked with ARS Rescue Rooter andthey could come out immediately. I agreed and Jeff from ARS called me and toldme the price. Having NEVER had to deal with such a problem, I agreed and gavehim my card number. My husband (who usually deals with these things) was out oftown in meetings, so not wanting our renters to live in backed up sewage, Iagreed. The plumber was there about anhour and the problem was resolved. I asked for a copy of the receipt and wastold it would be mailed immediately. Later that evening I relayed the problemto my husband and he hit the roof and said something like that should cost 1/3of what they charged us. I said I would be receiving a copy of the invoice andwould follow up the next day.
The next day (3/25) I called the mainnumber for the company and was told the area managers deal with pricing issues. I was given the managers number in the Denver office at 9:30 and left amessage for Don the Manager. I didnt hear back and called him back at 3:45. Hesaid he would pull the invoice and call me right back. He did call back at 4:05and said the files were locked up in payroll and he would call me back before10:00 am the next day. I asked if he were the manager and he said he was, so Iasked him if he had keys to unlock that office? He said no. On the 26th I waitedtill 11:00 and not having heard from him left Don a message again. I neverheard back from him. On 3/31 Don did call and wanted to know what I expected. Isaid I was promised a copy of the invoice but had never received one and wastrying to get estimates. He asked if I was asking about warranties and someother items, and again I told him I didnt know what I was asking for since Istill had not received a copy of the work done. Don said he would put a copy inthe mail that day and would call me on Friday 4/2 to discuss. He also said hismanager had said we had received a discount of $162 from the technician andthat was all he could do. He called on 4/8 and we were outof town (but had not received anything when we left), so I said I would dealwith it when we returned. Upon our return it was in the mail and I called 3random local companies to discuss what was done and that estimate. Theestimates were: 1`. Precision Plumbing 303-586-6407. I was told the cost for the main line was $159 and that should take care of anyproblems. Same day service was no extra cost2. Denvers 99 Rooter 720-276-9900. The estimate was $99 for the main line and should any other linesneed cleaning it would be a portion of the main line cost. Same day service wasno extra cost. 3. Rooter PHD 303-920-4911 The estimate for the main line was $85 and was told that should take care ofany problems. Same day service was no extra cost. 4. ARS Rescue Rooter 303-360-6886 I called to see what kind of estimate the company were havingthe dispute would quote me, and was told they are not allowed to give estimatesover the phone. How convenient. Since then I contacted the corporate offices in Memphis TN and talked to Ryan on 5/17 who assured me he would check it out and get back to me. I received a call later that day and a voice mail from Renee saying Dennis (the General Mgr) said the matter was closed. I called Ryan back and asked if that was his response and he said yes. I asked if he thought it was OK for a general mgr to dismiss a customer complaint having never talked to me and then having his assistant call me - he can't even call himself? Ryan said that was the final word and I'm mad!!!
