In early February my Husband, 2 children & I were looking on Craigslist for a rental home. We found a very nice home around the corner from our house that suited our living needs. We met up with an employee of Lrs, Alma Ambrose. She showed us the home, we liked it so we continued to fill out the application to rent and credit report... Etc... She took more than a few days to get back to us so we called and told her we had changed our mind. We explained to her we were fine where we were at and we were gonna decide not to rent the Property. She then convincingly pleaded that this house was wonderful and that they wanted to rent it to us and she hope that we changed our mind... So after all was said and done, she had our minds changed again. We met Alma at the house and signed a year lease and gave her the entire deposit and the rest of the first months rent. We were not scheduled to move in till the 15th of February, but she had said the house is vacant and we could start moving our stuff in right away... So... We did!!!
Around February 5th is when we had started to move all our stuff in, had the satellite guy installing our dishnetwork and the whole nine yards. As I was preparing for another load i received a call from Alma sayin she wanted to change the lease from Month to month because the owners were in some financial trouble and needed to refinance the house..."WHAT! I said, we have already signed a year lease and just about have all our stuff moved in, my husband has missed over a weeks worth of work to move and spent endless dollars cleaning up our old house which we have already given notice to!" She said we had the option to move out and we could get our money back, but at this point we had already gone to to much trouble to go back now, so we told her we were gonna keep our year lease as our right!!!
She continued to harass us about the year lease and even offered us over a thousand plus dollars to get it back. She also tryed to make us lie about her letting us move in early, we were not going to lie to ANYONE!!! We were very upset that she would put us through all of this and very skeptical as to why she was offering us so much money for the lease back. We held our ground and continued to pay our rent over a half month early and stayed in the home with stressful and sleepless nights.
We got a call one day from a new realtor from LRS Realty saying she was now the new property manager from this company, her name is Melanie. She sent us a letter saying she was the new property manager as well.in the letter she also wrote that the lease was up in a month??? We called her and she strangely said to disregard the last part of the letter which was the lease ending in a month... We thought strangely about that as well.
One fine day (or so we thought) A gentleman was at the house taping a notice to the house and taking pictures. The notice was a NOTICE OF TRUSTEE'S SALE. Dated 10-16. WOW!!! This house has been in default for sometime!!! So from the start we had realized that this company and the property owners had been renting us a house going into foreclosure, and OBVIOUSLY Have not been paying the Mortgage... Whih my husband and I have been informed is ILLEGAL!!! Our hearts dropped, and I began to cry... As I have been doing endessly since we had received the first call from Alma to Change our lease. We tried to call the property owner and she was VERY rude and said it was none of our business.
What to do now... Hmmmmmm!!!
We are now wating to hear from our Lawyer on what we can do about this situation from here on. We are sooo ready to go to court. This has been the WORST situation we have EVER had to deal with. Cannot tell you the stress and tears I have shed, and the worry of having to put my family in another home in such short time. We have a great amount of stuff to gather to move again, not to mention, all the hard work, time stress... And a small toddler and a teenager to put through all this.
So now you have heard my story, and i am telling you to NEVER EVER do Business with LRS Realty and management company. They are Liars and do not CARE about anything but scamming you out of your Money!!!
