I called this company because water was leaking from my inside a/c unit. I received a professional looking flyer from Florida A/C recently so I decided to give them a try. He showed me that there was mold growing and my family would be in danger if this was not taken care of quickly. I have no issue with the diagnosis and treatment they recommended. It was the cost.
I ended up paying over $1400 during this tough economic time for procedures that cost less than $700 (later revealed by other A/C companies). I had a small sense of deja vu while reading another complaint about this company because I receive the same schpeal about buying the UV light.
While working on the insided unit, he inspected the outside unit and added freon. He told me the outside unit was fine. Two weeks later the compressor fails. I called him back out and he informed me that the entire unit needed to be replaced for about $2000. He did not offer to fix or replace the compressor. He eventually came down to $1700 after talking to his "boss". BEWARE of the "talk to my boss" tactic. This seems to be a way of comforting you to make you think you are getting a deal.
He did not test the compressor electronically, he used some sort of pressure gage to show me that it was not keeping an adequate amount of freon. The next two companies I called did check the compressor electronically and offered me serveral more reasonable options without having to replace the entire unit.
