We searched the internet to try to find someone in the area to resurface (replaster) our 15 year old swimming pool. We had 3 different pool contractors come out and give us prices and talk to us about the newer products which were now on the market that were unavailable to us at the time we installed our pool.
All these contractors sang the praises of a materal call "3m Quartz". We were told that this product would last much longer and that the warenty period was twice as long (2 years instead of 1) as the original plaster.
The cost difference was about $500. Our main concern was the color. I didn't want anything that was speckled or spotted. I wanted a pure white. I was assured that the look of this material was the same as plaster and I was shown a sample. I have always tried to keep my pool very clean and it is much easier to keep it that way when you can see dirt and debri on the bottom.
Now that my pool has been completed: there are random locations on the bottom which have gray spots, there are gray smugged places on the steps, (possibily uneven mixing) the threads on the inlet fittings are clogged with material, the radius edges of the steps and sides are sloppy and uneven and they left a mess on the surrounding deck and in the yard (empty bags and leftover material).
On the day the job was completed one of the three brothers came to my house and listened to my complaints and said he would be back the next day to try to make some of the repairs that he could without having to drain the pool again.
That was four weeks ago. Since then I have left three messages but have heard nothing.
As you know we are now in the peak of the swimming season and my pool will have to be drained again in order to make some of these needed repairs, so I prefer they be taken care of at the end of this season or the begining of the next.
I paid $2800.00 for this work to be done and it looked much better before they started.
