Backyard Pool Specialist claimed they treated my pool for algae, in addition to cleaning my pool. However, when I came home, I could see that the pool was in the exact same shape as when I left it. (I could see the algae spots on the bottom of the pool were not brushed, because if the pool was brushed, the water would be murky from the algae on the bottom and I would not be able to see clear to the bottom of the pool)
I called to tell them that I should not have to pay the $120.00 fee for that week's cleaning, because nothing was done to my pool. I told them that I knew that the pool should be brushed to rid the algae of its protective coating, then treated with algae killer: I could plainly see that the pool was not brushed at all... Not even for the regular pool cleaning, let alone for algae treatment. (I know this because before I left home, I examined the pool and could see the algae spots on the bottom of the pool. If the pool was brushed, then the algae spots would turn the water murky and I would not be able to see clear to the bottom of the pool. When I came home, the pool was still clear and the algae spots were still sitting on the bottom, untouched). If the tech had brushed my pool, then the water would have still been murky when I got home as it takes at least 24 hours to start to clear up. The representative said that she would speak to the technician who came out to my house and have someone call me back later on that day.
When I didn't receive a call that day, I called back the next day and was told that someone would call me soon. I called back later in the day and spoke to, who I believe is the owner, and she told me that the technician said that the pool was treated. I told them that the pool was not treated and that I should not have to pay for services not received.in addition, I had to go to Leslie's Pool Supply and spend over $100.00 to purchase algae killer, wire brush and pool shock to clean my own pool and rid it of algae.
To make a long story short, they kept billing me, the last bill appearing as if it was from a collection agency, so I paid it. On the back of the invoice I did write that I will never use their services again, nor will I recommend them to anyone else.
I had suspected they pulled this same trick on me before, but I never paid close enough attention to the pool's condition to be absolutely sure. However this particular time I paid extremely close attention so that I could be absolutely sure they were actually ripping me off. They proved to be as dishonest as I thought.
