Thermal Advantage, Inc. A.K.A. TA Empire, Inc. Is doing business in Colorado under false pretenses. They claim that consumers have "qualified" to become the next "test home" in a "study" that is being conducted by a company called Atrium. If the consumer chooses to "participate" in this study they will be able to take advantage of some of the cutting edge technology in the window world at fraction of the cost.
They promise that you pay only for the cost of the windows and that you will not have to pay for the installation. They will also throw in free attic insulation blown to R-40 to help them with the study, as well as a digital thermostat.in addition to that you will also get all of the outlets and switches in your home insulated, and free thermal imaging to show problem spots before and after.
They give a nice demonstration using an Atrium window, one of your current windows, a heat lamp and a heat monitoring device. They promise no money down until all of the work is completed and the customer is 100% satisfied. They promise that all of the windows are guaranteed for life and if the installation is bad, the window breaks for ANY reason, the screen rips, or anything else happens it will be replaced free of charge for the life of the HOME. Yes, that is right it is a guarantee attached to the windows themselves and not the purchaser.
Then after signing the contract they need a down payment of $3,000, and after each leg of work is completed they call requesting a check so they can pay their employees.
They charge WAY more than the windows cost (have to pay everyone somehow). They installed Simonton windows rather than the Atrium windows that were demonstrated and charged for. They did a poor job at insulating the switches and outlets and tried to do only the upper floor and outside walls rather than what was in the contract. They broke things in the home and did not attempt to correct the issue.
They make many verbal promises and do not honor what is promised because it's not in writing (verbal contracts are just as legally binding f.Y.I.). They use several logos on their pamphlets and their contract: BBB, EnergyStar, Built Green Colorado. They are not members of any of these organizations. The Attorney General has a lawsuit against them which includes a cease and desist clause which is not being adhered to.
There are way too many issues with this company to list, but I will include additional items as necessary.
