A neighbor recommended Frank Lawson of Carpet Time to us. He came to the house, showed us carpet samples. We picked one, he ordered it and we paid him in November, setting an installation date in early December.
When the installation date got close, we began calling him to check the status. First story was carpet has not arrived. A few weeks later the story changed to "can't get that carpet anymore."
Lawson came back to our home and tried to get us to take an obviously inferior carpet instead. We declined and asked for a refund. He ignored us.
We asked for the refund in writing and followed up with phone calls. He became verbally abusive.
We then reached an agreement whereby Carpet Time would issue us three separate checks for the refund. He didn't.
We are now in the process of handling this matter through small claims court in Texas.
We have since learned that Mr. Lawson preys on single parents and those on a fixed income (We are neither. We are middle-aged, married with two incomes). I suppose he talks these other folks into taking the cheaper carpet and that didn't work with us.
Do not enter an agreement with Mr. Lawson. Do what we ended up doing. Run to the nearest Home improvement or legitimate flooring store and do business with them.
