I recently had my garage door springs break. On 5/18 I called Action garage Door Services (BrokenSprings.com) to come out on 5/19 between 9AM-11Am. The guy on the phone told me if I replaced both springs there would be a LifeTime Warranty on the springs, so I went with that company because they offered a good warranty and the price was fair. The guy on the phone never said you can't get a Lifetime warranty if there are things that need to be fixed before you recieve a LifeTime Warranty.
They came around 10:30am on 5/19 and the guy was a little rude and looked unhappy to be working at all. I asked the guy that was working on my garage if they accept checks and he said yes, but I didn't have a check so I had to use my Visa Credit Card. Then he stated that there would be a 4% charge for using my credit card. At that point he already had half the work done so I couldn't tell him to stop. After he was done I gave him my CC and I am going to break it down for everyone to read and show how they fit the 4% in the bill.
Springs: $238.00
Labor: $48.00
Total: $286.00
Plus 4% = $297.44
Fuel Charge: $8.95
Grand Total $306.39
If I used a check or paid in cash the total would have been $294.95
I think it is wrong to charge a customer for there Merchant fees. That's why they charged me 4% to cover there merchant charges.
I did not get the lifetime warranty because there was a few things that were bad on my garage door. The invoice said that the Rollers, Torsion, Hinges, Bearings and track were bad. The house that this garage door is on is a new house. Its not old and I grease the track and rollers all the time. The guy also said my Electronics are Fair and not good. I just bought a Brand New Craftsmen Garage Door Opener about 3 months ago, so how is that in fair condition. He also marked off saying my Concrete is NOT LEVEL. The house is no more them 8 years old. I think this company is misleading with there lifetime warranties and all they want to do is mark stuff off that are bad so they can charge me more money to fix things that are in good condition.in order to get a Lifetime warranty I would have to get all those things fixed before I can get a Lifetime warranty through this company. The guy that came out was very rude and he didn't explain anything he fixed or did. He never explained to me after I paid that I wouldn't get a Lifetime warranty until I fix all these things that are wrong. He also never explained that before he started of the garage door. Am I suppose to do that, am I the one that has to have a list of questions before someone that know how the system works? No I am not suppose to have all that on a paper and ask the guy all these things. He should have saw all these things and said, you need to fix all this stuff before we give you a Lifetime Warranty.
I think this company is misleading and they charge a 4% charge to cover the Merchant fees and the Consumer is being punished for this and that is wrong!
