AMARR Garage Doors - Costco.com, REFUSED TWICE to respond to my request for garage door adjustment repair need

We needed a new garage door. The aluminum, double width door that we had was the original to the house & 15 years old. The parts were falling off and screws popping out.

So we ordered a new door via Costco.com which AMARR Garage Doors uses to market their product. I haven't complained to Costco.com yet, but I will because Costco is a great store and AMARR is a problem vendor.

Because of Costco, the price was right. And, the authorized AMARR Garage Door sub-contractor installer in our area was pretty darn good. But he went out of business after installing our door. Before he left on the install day, however, he advised us to be sure & have the door adjusted if it began to "bind" because that would eventually wreck the door. Remember: the installer was the actual authorized AMARR rep for our area. They assign their own people to install & won't allow independents.

After two years, I phoned AMARR to request the contact info for their current authorized rep in our area since the door was beginning to bind. Voice mail on their customer service number. It said "leave a message & we'll be happy to call you back"... Or something to that effect.

So, I left my message that I merely wanted the contact info for their current installer. No return call. So, a couple days later, I again called. This was my second call. Same thing. Voice mail. I left a second message and said "Please just give me the contact info so I can call for a door adjustment." NO response.

Now, a month later, still NO response from AMARR Garage Doors.

Once they sell you the door, they won't even bother calling you back.

Costco will hear about this. But, you're hearing about it first.

My suggestion? Don't buy from AMARR simply because of their attitude toward former customers. Or, if you do, demand to know what rep will respond after the install if the current one goes out of business. I suspect deep down in their warranty fine print that if you use a "non authorized" installer to make repairs or adjustments, they're not obligated to honor their warranty.
