You see a livingroom set you like at Roomful Express but you think the price is a little high so you decide to wait for a good sale.
You see in the ad on Sunday that there is a 50% off sale this week, so you decide to go back expecting the price to be lower.
Not the case, in fact the price may be higher now than when you were origionally there because it is not 50% off the price but 50% off the compare at price.
Ask an associate what the "COMPARE AT" price is and this is what you will get, "That is the price that some of our competitors are selling this set for".
My question is this, who or which furniture company is selling this Ashley sofa set for $2600? None of them are selling it at this price or they would be out of business within a month, so how can we say this is the actual compare at price? In fact, I believe that this is just a made up numer to trick the consumer into believing that they are indeed getting a bargain when in fact the same sofa set down the street is selling for much less.
Stores are asked to change the compare at prices depending upon the sale that is taking place so please shop around for your best bargain and dont be fooled by their gimics.
