Mr. Pitch was contracted by Green Electric to perform a plumbing job at my house. Mr. Pitch was given the installation manual (with pictures) for our boiler. Not being a plumber myself, I believed the "expert" when he stated that we did not need an expansion tank. He showed up the first day, did a little "work" then left and drove around for hours "looking for parts" (Home Depot and several plumbing supply places are within a 5 miles radius of my house). He finally showed back up at the house and then said that it was too late and he could not complete the job (it was 3 in the afternoon... They had been here since 8 AM). He came back the following day... Late... And supposedly finished the job. We then tried to turn on our heat and found a leak... So then we had to wait for him to come back again.
After he finally left, we do not have any leaks. BUT, after taking a non-plumbers look at the installation manual... You need an expansion tank, the circulator pump needs to be ABOVE the unit... Yeah, no expansion tank and the pump is below the unit.
It has now been a week of calls back and forth to Green Electric and they want us to pay another $500 for an expansion tank (have one from the old unit that is compatible and in good condition) and $275 to replace one 5-foot section of pipe.
If you need plumbing work done in the Washington DC metro area... Please, please, please be cautious and if this man responds to your call from help do NOT let him in your house. You are better off with the leak.
