I purchased a home by a local realtor, Doug de los Angeles, a little over 3 years ago. His advertisement stated 'Buy a home from me and receive up to $10,000 cash back.' After the home purchase, he told me I was eligible for the entire $10,000 cash back, but that it would take 36 months to redeem the certificate. Okay, no problem.
Three years later, to the day, I mailed in the certificate for redemption to Cash Rewards according to their instructions and and waited in anticipation for my $10,000! Yet after numerous phone calls and many months later, I was told that it was still being processed. FOUR MONTHS later my check arrived... in the amount of only $3200.
The letter from Cash Rewards accompanying the check stated that "due to the large amount of certificates received" they were mailing me a "PROPORTIONAL AMOUNT" of the entitlement. WHAT? I have yet to receive an explanation, and they told me that they are unable to provide the proof justifying this. Now when I call the Cash Rewards number I no longer get a human on the other end.
Now the number states that you must leave a message and the call will be returned within 24 hours. It appears as though I am not the only upset client here. Cash Rewards is not what they promised! I am in tears and shocked. I was really counting on that money. Do NOT buy a home with a realtor who uses this tactic.
