Usacomplaints.com's goal is to EXPOSE DECEPTION RIP-OFFS to all consumers. After several complaints, usacomplaints.com sent a consumer advocate to Arizona Lifestyles Home Furnishings located at 4848 E Cactus Road in Scottsdale, AZ. Our consumer advocate went in to this store and posed as a buyer.
Other usacomplaints.com consumer informants have noticed that this deceptive furniture store has been using "going out of business sale" signs in the area for almost 2 years. They would even hire street people to stand at the street corners close to their store and would walk back and forth holding these "going out of business signs." This sale has been going on for about 2 years said several other consumers near the area.
Before Our consumer advocate went in to the store he noticed that the sales manager was having a sales pep rally to pump up his sales staff. Their sales rally looked just like, what a car dealer would have before they open for a big sucker's sale. They were all jumping up and down like they were going to squeeze EVERY LOOKER into a buyer RIGHT NOW!!!
As the consumer advocate investigator entered this store, he felt like he was going to be attacked by the first shark that could get to him first. He stated, "I felt like I was in an indoor car lot.".."It was high pressure from the minute I walked in." If a business is going out of business they should have ONE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE and that's IT. Maybe for 3 or 4 months ok, but 2 years? This furniture store will use this deceptive "Going Out Of Business Sale until someone complains."
This is fraud and most definitely false advertising. One informant told us that they looked at a living room set that was on sale, that they were told for only 1 more week, because the store was closing in a month and they will have no more of that particular living room set ever again. Well, that was back in September of last year. That same living room set is still for sale today. When a sales person was asked this time about that living room set, the sales person said, "No, don't listen to that, they have been ordering this living room set for the last year." It's our best seller." The sales person also stated that they are not going out of business, but he won't question them because they need the job.
Usacomplaints.com investigator also talked to a lady named Mary Louise, She called herself "M L" She seemed very pushy for him to sit down and make a deal. (like a car sale) As the investigator looked at her business card he noticed that it was someone else's card with their named scratched out and her name penciled in. They must have a fast turn over of sales people.
Mary Louise told the consumer investigator that they were having a going out of business sale because the owners wanted to get out of they business. She also stated, they, the owners had REAL DEEP POCKETS and did not need anymore money and all inventory HAD TO GO.
If a business is having a "Going Out Of Business Sale" many times a year, for years, you can bet, IT IS A SCAM.
Usacomplaints.com has reported this to the Attorney Generals office.
