I have a written contract (dated January) with Ronnie Evans, doing business as Acme Home Improvement, to furnish all materials and labor to install 15 vinyl replacement windows, replace deteriorated wood on house and paint all wooden areas, install vinyl siding and shutters, and install new gutters and downspouts.
The contract required that I pay half the cost of the project in advance, which I did ($5000).
Mr. Evans told me the project would take about 4 weeks to complete, since the windows were special ordered and would take a couple of weeks to build. After waiting 6 weeks, and hearing no word from Mr. Evans, I called Acme for a status check. His wife, who worked at his business, told me the windows were taking longer than usual to build. After several phone calls AND 6 months later, I still had not heard from Evans.
I called Acme and told his wife to tell him to either put in my windows, like I had contracted him to do, or return my money to me. Within 3 weeks, he had installed my windows, but not correctly, so the windows would not stay closed. After numerous calls, during a frigid cold winter with my windows improperly installed and unable to close properly, he came in August of the following year and adjusted a couple of the windows, so that they would stay closed.
He was supposed to return and complete the others, but he never did. I have made numerous calls to his place of business and left messages on his answering machine, but he has not returned any of my calls.in a nutshell, he took my money, but only partially completed the job, and still owes me either additional work or a refund. I have been waiting over 3 years for him to return my calls. I tried to find his physical address that was printed on his contract, but no such address exists. I was told Evans lives in Erin, TN, but I have been unable to contact him. I have experienced the ultimate ripoff with this business.
