We first contacted JackAllTrades on 09/22/08. A man named Brian Redding came out and gave us an estimate to powerwash our house and repaint the moulding on 09/24/08. The job was scheduled to start on 10/03/08 with a completion date of 10/05/08. We had to put down 1/3 ($284.62 by check), of the total price of $798.00, which they cashed right away. JackAllTrades does not supply materials, so we went out and bought all the paint, powerwash solution, wood, etc. Needed to complete the job on 09/26/08.
On 09/30/08, we received a call from Tom that Brian was injured on a job and would not be able to come out. Tom stated that he would be able to do the work the following week, however the time frame that Brian estimated was not correct and that he'd need longer to complete the job (without even seeing the house!) To make a long story short, we were having a home inspection done the week Tom wanted to come out and wanted the job completed before then. (The reason we hired them in the first place!). We were a little upset and left it with Tom that we would contact him the following week to schedule a date for him to come out.
On 10/13/08, we contacted Tom to schedule an appointment and he stated that he was completely booked until 11/05/08 and that he would give us a call on 11/05/08 to schedule the work. We didn't hear anything from Tom or anyone else in the company on 11/05/08 or anytime after that.
On 12/01/08, we contacted JackAllTrades and spoke to a man (who refused to provide his name) and informed them that we haven't heard back from them and at this point, just want to cancel the job and get our deposit back. The "man" stated that deposits are not refundable and that we should have called and followed up! WHAT? How many times do we have to call these people? Two months of phone calls and trying to schedule an appointment and they want US to keep chasing them? He said that since they do 3 million dollars a year, they know how to run a business. WHAT? The homepage of their website (http://www.jackalltradesonline.com/) says "TIRED OF HANDYMEN WHO DON'T SHOW UP OR RETURN CALLS? WE ALWAYS DO!"..
Well we are proof positive that they DO NOT SHOW UP! We've been waiting TWO MONTHS to get them to even START the job! When they don't show up, they refuse to give you your deposit back. Stay away from this company. I checked them out @ the BBB and they have an unsatisfactory rating and they don't answer consumer complaints.
WHAT A RIP OFF..!!! Three hundred dollars plus materials down the drain for a company who takes your money then ignores you. I bet all their "testimonials" are from their spouses. Stay away!
