I had some windows replaced in my condominium by S&S Glass company. Recently, I was washing the windows and I noticed that the Rubber Gaskets around the windows were not fitted correctly. They were of by as much as 1/2" in some areas. Upon further inspection I noticed that the mitered edges didn't even meet. So i called S&S Glass to inform them that there was a problem with the installation. I spoke with Scott Weingart the owner and right of the bat he started giving me excuses. First, He told that gaskets or glazing was "Original Hardware" and there was nothing he could do about it. I told him about how the mitered corners didn't line up and that the job was sloppy. He didn't have much to say after that and stated that he would come out to my condo to tkae a look at them on Monday morning at 8:00 AM.
Monday 8:00 AM. No Scott Weingart. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited until 8:30 AM. I called his office and he picked up the phone! I asked him why he didn't show up and he said he over looked it. He stated that he would be there in 15 minutes. (His shop is only about 10 minute away from my residence.) 8:45 No Scott Weingart. 9:00 AM Still no show. I gave up and left because I had to go to work.
I left a note at my doorbell stating that I had to leave for and for him to please call me to re-schedule. I was going to call him as soon as I got to work but I too pissed and thought it would be better to call him in the afternoon when I cooled off.
Monday 2:00 PM. I called him backed and he told me sorry I missed you and I left a note at your door. I'll be there on Tuesday at 7:30 am. When I arrived home on Monday night there was NO Note on the door or under it. That told that he was lying and he NEVER showed up in the first place.
Tuesday 7:45 Am. Scott Weingart shows up. He insists that the gasket are out of line because we opened the center window. WTF? The center window is the only window you can open! I asked why the left window top edge of the glass was exposed. He couldn't give me an answer. All he could say was that windows would have to be reseated. He said he schedule his guys to come out next Thursday at Nine AM.
The following Tuesday I called him to confirm that I was scheduled for this repair. He couldn't even find the paperwork. After hearing him shuffle papers on his desk he says he will have his guys come out on Friday at 9:00 AM. My wife says "something stinks" and suggests that we call a different vendor. He come out and looks at the windows measures the frame and concludes that the window panes were cut to small and that is why the gaskets not fitting correctly. It was pretty obvious that were undercut as he showed me how one side was going all the way into the gasket seal while the other side of the window pane was short by at least 1/4 of an inch. Needless to say that was all I needed to see.
I called S&S Glass and tried to contact Scott Weingart numerous times but he is nowhere to be found. So much for reliable service! So, if you live around the Skokie area I advise you. DON'T do business with this rip-off Operation S&S Glass!
