This story does not even touch the extent of the nightmare I have experienced with this company. It cannot be put into words.
I reserved a truck with Authorized Movers for a move from Texas to Ohio. I spoke with a man named Gabriel who was quick to respond to emails and phone calls before the sale. Afterwards, when there were problems, he was never in the office, never answered his phone, never returned phone calls or emails. If I did happen to get him on the phone he transferred me immediately to someone's voicemail whose mailbox was full.
Prior to reserving the truck, I asked Gabriel if they charged for stairs, he said no. I asked him SPECIFICALLY if only my things would be on a truck, he said yes. Neither of these were true when Freedom Van Lines came to pick up my things.
I scheduled the pick up for June 12th and delivery for June 17th. Krista from Freedom Van Lines called me on June 10th to tell me that they would be picking my things up one day early. The movers came, none of them in uniform in an Enterprise truck with nothing representing the moving company other than the contracts. I asked the movers to confirm the date of delivery and they did, June 17th. I asked them for the weight certificate for the truck, not only did they did not have it, they told me to call and they'd fax it to me (he gave me no name or number to call). They left with my things saying that they would go into storage in Houston and put on a separate truck to go to Cincinnati.
On June 16th, I called Krista to get an update on where my things were, she said they hadn't left the "warehouse". She told me my things would not be delivered until the following Wednesday (June 25th). When I told her that was unacceptable, she said she'd see what she could do and call me back before she left the office. She did not. I called the office after hours and and spoke to Isaac who is apparently a manager. He was smug, unhelpful and inappropriate. After getting very upset, he taunted me, told me that he "wished he had a magic hat so he could pull a truck out and get me my things, " followed by saying, "A private truck costs $10,000. Did you pay $10,000? I don't think so." He also asked, "don't you think it's important to read a contract before you sign it?" He said he'd see if he had a truck going from Texas to Ohio the next day and that he'd call me back that night. Of course, he never did. When I called him the next day, he said he was with his girlfriend, asked me how I got his phone number, and told me that I needed to call Krista at the office.
Both my mother and I have been calling both Freedom Van Lines and Authorized Movers repeatedly to find out where my things are and not only will no one tell me where my things are, they will not answer the phone or return calls.
It is now June 20th, I have nothing and I have no update on when I am supposed to get my things or where my things are located. I believe that Isaac is paying everyone lip service by saying when my things will be delivered, but every day when I call, there is some unspecified reason why it will be delayed until the next day. Again, NO ONE will tell me where my things are. They have almost $950 of my money plus thousands of dollars worth of my posessions and I cannot seem to get an answer of when my things will be delivered or in what condition they will be in when I get them. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They WILL rip you off.
I have called the Attorney General's office, the Better Business Bureau, Texas Department of Transportation and I have sought legal services for this matter. My next phone call will be to the Dallas District Attorney's office to file a suit for theft against this company. SAVE YOURSELF A NIGHTMARE and do not use Freedom Van Lines or Authorized Movers.
And I urge those who have used this company and have had a horrible experience to PLEASE report them. Nothing will happen unless they continue to get complaints. They should NOT be in business.
