It has been nothing but excuse after excuse why these guys did not build our 3 bdrm home in 9 mths. We have been lied to again and again. They received final draw in early October 07 with the agreement they would finish the punch list items in a timely manner. We didn't believe them but the bank was threatening us with a rate increase to 11.5% so we had no choice. Punch list items at that time included touch up paint, screens, stucco repair, install bath hardware, re-do cool decking to correct color and on and on. We have been calling and emailing trying to get the contractor to finish so the home could be occupied.
As time goes on, we are finding more and more evidence of poor workmanship. The ceilings in the entry way, living room and master bedroom now have cracks across the entire room. Door jams are uneven, paint used apparently was thinned for greater coverage, none of the baseboards or windows were caulked after installation, the hall closet (appox 15" deep) was to shallow for a coat hanger. We finally hired a handyman to begin with repair of these items since the contractor is unwilling or unable to complete the work. Through several sources we have found out the contractor owes many sub contractors around town. That's why no-one will finish the work.
We are currently in process of filing with the Contractors Board in AZ in hopes to make Kuerner Homes more responsive and to recovery cost we have outlaid twice. One to them, and once to our handyman.
Don't fall for their excuses. It will not only cost you lots in time and money. If they had been honest with us all along, we would have been able to get things done quicker and saved ourselves thousands of dollars. But they lied to us from the beginning and strung us out for 2 1/2 years and are still not done.
