Raindance Water Systems, Dime Water Inc
Refused to refund or fix defective product Ramona, California

I purchased a Maxi Cure Pro whole house water treatment system from Raindance Water Systems over the internet on May 31 and had it professionally installed by a plumber on June 14.

It is supposed to treat well water that has a lot of iron, manganese and sulfur (rotten egg) odors. It never worked well, but initially the only problem seemed to be a slight iron taste. But the rotten egg smell returned in about a month in the hot water, which I then had to pay my hot water company to fix, and in about 2 months in the cold water, never to leave again. I followed their advice to chlorinate the tank several times but this provided almost no relief. Worse, over time the iron smell and taste became unbearable. It culminated with a test done by a certified lab in MA in Nov that indicated that the iron concentration was being reduced from 6.9 to 1.0 ppm (still unsatisfactory), but that the manganse concentration was actually far higher after treatment (1.1 vs 0.23).

The filter is actually made of manganese, which! Strongly suggests that it was failing. Note, while I bought from Raindance, the company that delivered and provides support is Dime Water, 2575 Fortune Way Suite J, Vista, California 92081. Phone: 760-734-5787 / Fax: 760-734-5798 I have spoken to Mike Colburn there, [email protected] and Kyle Kuypers.

Their mantra is that their technology should easily be able to handle my water chemistry, and that therefore the problem lies with me and the installation, even though the system was professionally installed and supposedly requires minimal maintenance. They do not appear to consider that perhaps I have a defective system, or even to show curiosity about how it may have failed. Their lack of authorized dealers to substantiate their claims or determine the true cause and fix for the problem is also worrisome. I requested a refund, even a partial refund, several times but they refused. Finally I purchased a better competitive system, and continue to seek some compensation for this product.
