We purchased a Whirlpool dryer model#ler5848eq2 9-1998. A short 4 years later the timer control goes out. We were advised by the repairman the part would cost approx. $74.10 plus his $45.00 service visit.
I contacted Whirlpool's Consumer Assistance/No Assistance and was advised would file a report, but, should not expect a reply from the corp.! I was advised the part should arrive by approx. 9-19. Returned from vacation 9-30 and contacted repairmen. Was advised by supplier estimated part delivery 10-10! The part was ordered 9-5!
Our last dryer was a cheap G.E. That lasted 13 years! Our folks own a Maytag that is over 20 years old! I strongly suspect that Whirlpool is having a major problem with this particular timer, but, won't own up to it. Their customer assistance is pure crap and a giant run-around! I advise that no-one buys a Whirlpool appliance! You would be better off hanging your wash on a clothes line!
