Though I've had numerous BAD experiences with this company, today's topped them all. A toilet in my home developed a crack in the tank, and after a plumber came to make the repair, AHS claimed that the crack was not a cause of normal wear and tear. When asked what their definition of "normal wear and tear" is, I was told the following by a supervisor. "Repeatedly sitting on a toilet is not normal wear and tear. For this item to be covered, it would have had to develop the crack with no interaction from you... Thus, unless it cracked by you simply looking at it, it is not considered normal wear and tear." After this, I was basically turned a deaf ear and a "I don't care what you say or do, this claim will be denied and no service fee will be refunded. End of story."
Unbelievable. I understand this is a toilet, and a $100 repair, but it's the simple theory of it, and because this is definitely not the first time I've received this bogus treatment from AHS, I thought I'd finally voice myself.
Bottom line, American Home Shield has one of the absolute worst customer service policies I've ever seen. Chances have it I am a real estate broker and am responsible for recommending home warranty companies to a myriad of clients. Rest assured I will NEVER recommend AHS to another client of mine, and will do everything in my power to spread the word about this bogus, cheating company.
