We bought an electric cooktop three years ago to replace a Frigidaire cooktop which had been in our house since 1968. I wish that we had kept the old one!
This cooktop started to rust under the burner trim and around the edges almost immediately.in addition, the 8" burner control began to provide maximum heat at any setting of the dial. Still under warranty, the control was replaced after 8 months. The repairman said that the rust wasn't covered under the warranty and that I was to purchase a rust-removal product. I bought the extended warranty which was needed when the control went out again after another year; same burner—the repairman said it was because we used that burner too much.
I didn't renew the extended warranty and sure enough the control went out after 8 or nine months but I was able to purchase and install the control myself.
To me, a cooktop has to do only two things: look nice and heat food. This one does neither and is a very poor product&watch out! (Model #FEC32C4ACD 4 burner electric cooktop)
