Hired Nelson Brothers Construction June 8 to build a 4 horse barn on my farm. We agreed on a price in which I would pay 1/4 down to order material, 1/4 for excavation, 1/4 when truss are put up and the final payment when job was finished to our satisfaction. We included a date of July 20th for completion. The first 3 payments were made as discussed. The work was VERY shottie to say the least. Poles were not straight and plumbed with building. Workmanship on the whole building was VERY amateur at best. Floor joist were cut too short and pieced together. Walls were crooked. August 2nd I fired the contractor without paying final payment. I contacted anoth contrator to give me and estimate to finish the job professionally. The estimated came out $100 dollars over what I would of paid first contractor. Now I am told that liens are going to be placed on my barn until he is paid. What recourse do I have to get rid of this guy?
