Over priced repair parts for vacuums. Chicago

My wife told me the Kenmore upright sweeper broke a belt and wanted it fixed. While I was in Galesburg, Illiois, I went to their store and was informed that they were out of belts for that particular model. I went elsewhere.

Next I stopped off at a True Value Hardware store where the clerk started tearing open belt packages and tried to size the broken belt up to a new one. After the third ripped bag, I told her to stop opening the packets, that I'd try the Sears store in Burlington, Iowa, the town where I work.

Burlington Sears was a joke, They had eight different vacuums on display and two sizes of brand X replacement belts. Neither would fit my upright. The clerk
said. "Come back Thursday. We'll have a truck in that day." "Will it have the belt I need?" I asked. "I'm not sure, but they usually bring a lot of stuff in on Thursdays." Says the clerk. Where do they get these people?

I went home and tried sears.com. They had the belt, but what a rip-off. Where all of the other stores I'd visited sold these belts in packages of two for any where from $1.98 - $2.98 plus tax, the online price was $4.22 for a single belt, plus $6.99 shipping and handling and $. 26 tax. I thought, surely they'd ship two belts in one package as they are sold in the store. Nope. One oversized Chinese rubber band, only $11.47.

I tried to complain to sears.com, but the feedback function didn't work. Fancy that.

I probably should have went to WALMART. Next time I will.
