We purchased a set of Berkline/Benchcraft furniture in 1991 (a sofa, a reclining loveseat, and a swivel rocker recliner) the furniture itself is in excellent condition, as matter of fact the sofa a swivel rocker recliner has hardly been used except on holidays.
In July of this year the mechanisms have started wearing out on the loveseat and one side has broke all together. I contacted Berkline/Benchcraft and they said that they could not find the style number, then I took pictures of it and faxed them over to them and they figured out which one it was and said they no longer make the mechanisms for that and they could give us $50.00 for our trouble.
Well the $50.00 is a joke in itself so I reminded them that the warranty for the mechanisms is for a lifetime. They still won't budge so I contacted the Michigan Attorney General and they took my complaint, and the Michigan Attorney General pushed the warranty issue with them as far as they could, and still no results. So I contacted Channel WXYZ a local television company, and they have pushed the warranty issue the Berkline/Benchcraft, with no resolve. Berkline/Benchcraft just will not stand behind their warranty no matter what.
