I ordered an exterior entry door and paid for it upfront on 3/29/02. I was told the door would take two weeks to come in.
On 4/19/02 (3 weeks later) my husband called the store to check on it and was told it would be in the following week.
It did not show up. We then called 4/29/02 and was told it would be there on 5/2. It did not show. I was then told on 5/3 that they were finding a special truck to ship it on and that it should be there 5/9.
It wasn't. On 5/10 we visited the store personally instead of calling and we were told it had been shipped that day from Virginia but they couldn't track the shipment or find out when it was delivering and didn't know why it hadn't shipped the week before as promised.
Then within 5 minutes someone else told us it was shipping from Canada. We have talked to repeated managers and everyone tells us a different story.
Then the manager of the door department says he never knew anything about this problem. Who on earth have we been talking to then when we ask for a manager?
It is going on seven weeks and I still don't have a door but they have had my money this whole time and have done nothing but lied to me.
Now the managers don't even want to help us they just want to give us our money back to get rid of us and all I want is my door. It's easy to give someone their money back rather than pleasing them - that's the cowards way out.
The door display in the store even states special orders arrive in 14 days. Isn't this false advertising since I've been waiting 7 weeks (which is 49 days) and still no door? We're tired of being lied to.
I realize they get it from a supplier but tell us the truth when it will be here - not what you think we want to hear.
We've been remodeling our house ourselves and have spent over $4000 in this store only to be treated like pond scum. This is the second time since we started the remodeling that they have jerked us around.
We ordered an entertainment center that took two months to come in and we got repeated false promises on that item as well while they had our money the whole time. They even called us one time and said it was in only to find out when we got to the store that it wasn't.
Then when it finally did come in all the pieces weren't with it. I'm in customer service myself and if I repeatedly gave the customer false promises like they have to us for this length of time I would loose my job.
I know this is the last thing I'll ever get from that store but just because they are a large company they should not be aloud to get away with it.
Something needs to be done. I live in a small town where hardware stores are limited but they should not be able to do as they please just because they think we have no where else to go.
