Caveat emptor! His ads ARE too good to be true. DO NOT buy any leather sofa you cannot see as a sample on the floor—not even if he claims the leather on a floor sample is "the same" as the one you buy. The pictures look great, the "like" samples seem nice, but the quality on what you receive is POOR!
I was promised a wine colored set—advertised at $1200, all "italian" leather. Yes, seemed too good to be true. I went through the questions: 100% LEATHER? Yes. Dyed leather (vs. Coated)? Yes. Kiln-dried wood frames? Yes. Warranty on the frame? Yes—30 years. Warranty on the leather/cushions? Yes—30 years. All wrapped up with "if you don't love it, just bring it back." Sounds fairly risk free, right?
They deliver at 9:30 at night—one poor guy—had to help haul it in myself, but tipped generously anyway—isn't his fault. Can't really assess quality at this point—but it's the wrong color, it's clearly not dyed (turned it over) and there aren't any warranty docs.
I decide I can live with the color—it's fine. I'm suspicious of the quality, since the back and sides are clearly an inferior, stiff grade of leather—going to split on me? Nervous about the finish—definitely a low grade hide that's been "shaved", resurfaced, then coated for uniformity. I want my warranty—decide no warranty—I return it.
Go in to the shop two days later and ask for my warranty docs. He says, "Don't worry! I'll put them in the mail for you."
Two weeks pass. No warranty. Stop in again. Get a long song and dance about how great the quality is, blah blah blah. Still want my warranty. Response: "it'll be in the mail today!".
Call up today—still don't have that warranty. Now the story is that the MANUFACTURER hasn't sent him the docs. He's going to call them. I need to call him back for the story. I'll tell you what the story is: there is no warranty—it's a pile of BS.
Folks, this is a classic run-around. He gets you to take delivery on this sub-standard furniture and gives you all the talk in the world, but you end up with exactly what you paid for—junk dressed in fancy talk. NO DEALS HERE! If you are concerned about quality DO NOT SHOP HERE!
I feel like a total fool for breaking my internal rule book: if it seems too good to be true, it is. If it isn't in writing, you lose. If you trust someone's word, you'll be disappointed. Such is life these days, I am sorry to admit. I'm a sucker, but don't fall prey to this game.
If there's a happy ending, I'll report back.in the meantime, STAY AWAY!
