My family was moving from N.J. To Pa on 12/1/04. We looked in the Pocono yellow pages and found Signature Van Lines there. We called them and Carleen Greenidge from Signature Van Lines came to my house to give us an estimate on the move and storage and move to move out of storage.

She seemed to be a professional and we toured my house and I showed her a detailed inventory of what I needed to be moved. This included moving out of New Jersey on 12/1/04 then to have our furniture put in their storage facility (Pa) and then moving to our new home (Pa) on 12/22/04. The estimate was for two trucks and four workers. We were closing on our old home and the new owners wanted to move in on 12/1/04.

Signature Van Lines said that they would be there between 8am-12 noon. The new owners had their movers come at 1pm and they wanted to move in (but our furniture wasn't out yet). Signature Van Lines did not show up until 2:30pm. When they showed up they had one truck and two helpers. The estimate that they gave was for the whole job (moved, stored, and redelivered) was 2441.25.

They asked for a deposit of 250.00 which I mailed to them (11/12/04). When the two movers came to my house... The driver (mover) whose name is "Shaq" told us that he would not complete the move until he received a check for 2300.00. Meanwhile the new owners wanted our furniture out so they could move in. I told him that Carleen made the deal and estimate and that I would like to talk to her on how she can expect payment in full for a job that was not even done. Shaq had no record of the 250.00 check that was sent and cashed. She refused to talk to me and instructed Shaq to speak on the companies behalf. I said that she made the deal me and that she and I inventoried what was to be done. At this point 3/4 of my furniture was in the truck and the new owners wanted us out. It was their house and I don't blame them. I had no choice but to give them the check for 2300.00.

About two weeks before we closed on our new home (12/21/04) I called Signature Van Lines and told them to call me back about the getting of our furniture out of storage and delivered to our new home. They did not return any calls to me and I was very upset with this since they had our life's belongings. I called our lawyer and asked him to send an overnight letter to them that we will take them to court unless we hear from them. Shaq called the next day and scheduled the move for 12/22/04.

On 12/22/04 Shaq arrived to our new home with our furniture on it. Before he would unload our furniture and he demanded 1890.75 in cash. I told him the deal that Carleen Greennidge (for Signature Van Lines) was that the total payment of the estimate was 2441.25. I also told him that Signature Van Lines cashed both of my checks (250.00 and 2300.00) already. That means we paid Signature Van Lines 2550.00 for an estimated moving job (moved, stored, and redelivered) of 2441.25.

Now Signature Van Lines demanded additional 1890.75 cash for the delivery to our new house.

We had no choice but to pay because they had every possession we owned at ransom. I planned on saving the battle for another day in court. My Family and I had no choice. Carleen Greenidge never returned a call to me since the very first day she made the deal. She was pulling the strings for the puppet Shaq. He was the mouthpiece and she was calling the shots. I never received a chance talk to her to ask on how she arrived at the new figure. What was I suppose to do when your lifelong possessions sits in their warehouse and truck.

I searched the internet for Signature Van Lines and I found postings of other people ripped off by this company. I called the company and they have a message center that no one calls you back with. I don't know who the owner of Signature Van Lines is but I would love to find out.

Don't ever use their service you will be ripped off.
