I bidded on an antique dining room table on Ebay and won. My winning bid was $485.00 not including shipping ($360) and I paid it by credit card. It was supposedly from France and would take 4-6 weeks to arrive. After 4 MONTHS, and MANY phone calls to Rinner's, I was told that it was in fact coming from Brazil, not France, and would arrive in another 2 weeks. 2 weeks later I called and it was "in the wharehouse". They charged another $360 to my credit card for shipping and told me I would receive it in a few weeks.
1 month later, I still did not have a table. When I called them I was told that they sold it to someone else several months beforehand. When I asked why on Earth they did so, and why on Earth they kept telling me I would "receive it shortly", they said, "Well, we don't know, why don't you just sue us!"
Basically, they sold it to someone else for more money and waited past the 6 month date that Ebay gives you to make a complaint about a purchase. Also, your credit card will not reimburse you after 6 months. So, they stalled in hopes that they would get paid for the table twice!!! Luckily my credit card company pursued the issue and I ended up getting my $ back. But alas, no table.
