Best Buy: Worst Service

After my most recent experience with Best Buy, I decided to search the Internet to see if other consumers had had similarly horrendous problems. I found this site and read the review of Best Buy, and to my horror, what I've been through over the past week is apparently just the tip of the iceberg. All I needed from Best Buy was a simple copy of my receipt. I bought a Sony Vaio VPCF126FM laptop at Best Buy's West L.A. Store less than a year ago and misplaced my receipt while moving. When my hard drive recently malfunctioned, I was still within the 1-year manufacturer's warranty, but Sony required a receipt before it would service my laptop. Assuming this would not be too difficult to do, I called Best Buy customer service and a representative spent almost an hour searching for my receipt, all the while trying to convince me to hang up and call back because his office's computer system was new and was still running very slowly. I said I would rather wait, for fear that if I hung up and would just have to go through the same process again. He finally found my receipt, then assured me that I would receive it by e-mail within the next 2 hours. I never got it. The next day, I called back and the representative I spoke to insisted she had sent the e-mail to my e-mail address, again to no avail. I called back a third time, and the same thing happened. These latest representatives suggested that the problem was on my end because maybe there was a block on Best Buy e-mails. Not only was there no block, but I pointed out to them that Best Buy has no trouble sending me its regular sales promotions to the very same e-mail address, and these e-mails always seem to get through with no trouble. Why so much trouble to send me a receipt? I have now waited almost 5 days for the receipt, with no idea when, if ever, it will arrive.in the meantime, my manufacturer's warranty is running out, and Sony just sent me an e-mail telling me they're going to close my service order because they never received my receipt for the laptop. Needless to say, I am outraged that Best Buy cannot do something as simple as sending me a copy of a receipt that their own representatives had clearly located. I've never had a problem like this with companies known for their strong customer service, but Best Buy appears to be among the very worst — and now I understand why. If this is how they treat customers, I will never buy anything from them again — and will sell my stock in the company as well.
