Overstock.com (auction), Best Buy Outlet, Deal Tree
Sold products telling me they have warranty and finding out from sony that no auction item anywhere is eligible for manufacture warranty. Even new in unopened box. Flower Mound, Texas

I purchased 5 laptops on overstock.com. I called sony to verify warranty. Sony said one year from purchase date. When i received the items they were as described. Like new and in sealed box. One computer was missing a battery. I called sony for a price. Sony asked when i had purchased. I said 1 week prior. They said if i send them by fax a copy of receipt they would send me a battery free.

I sent my receipt to sony. Called 4 hours later to verify shipment of battery, as requested by sony. They said i will receive a battery in 3 to 4 days. After a week and no email, phone call, or letter notifing me of anything, i called them to check on battery. Tyrone, at sony, informed that they could not replce the battery because they are not giving me any warranty.

Tyrone said, if you bought it at an auction, it is not given a warranty, even if item is new. He went on to say that i needed a receipt from best buy with model, serial number and date. I had faxed them this receipt which has written on it"seller, best buy outlet" with best buy logo. I called best buy headquarters and talked to seth in customer service. He got on a 3 way call with a guy from sony named paul.

We were going over the warranty issues. Paul said he would accept the fax as a receipt then we were diconnected. I called back at best buy and there was a long wait. So, i called sony thinking i could get a hold of paul. No luck. There talking point is if you buy it at an auction, new in sealed box, no warranty. Overstock or deal tree, informed me that if there was a warranty card in box it has warranty (manufacture).

I have tried numerous times through emails to resolve this. I thought i was buying these items from best buy outlet with a warranty. They are all brand new. The warranty card is in the factory box with a factory seal which has not been opened.in closing, they also charged 7% sales tax and i informed them i live in polk county which has a 6% sales tax. They replyed they use some chart. Where does the 1% extra go. Is it tax deductable?
