Wrongful charges on Visa by Symantic / Norton

When I bought my computer, it was already loaded with Norton. I used Norton for about a year but soon became fed up with its constant reminder pop-ups, plus, unlike the FREE anti-virus software I use, it never did find anything wrong with my computer. I therefore completely uninstalled the program.

A year later I received a Visa bill stating that I owed Norton $86.00 for renewal. They had automatically renewed it without my authorization. I spent the next 2 months on their chat-line and on the telephone with East Indians who didn't speak my language, especially on the telephone. Each time they assured me that this would not happen again and that the charge would be removed from my Visa. This did not happen.

I finally got satisfaction by way of contacting Symantec administration directly. I was assured this would not happen again.

About a week ago I received a notice from Symantec telling me my subscription was up for renewal. I panicked, anticipating another bill on my Visa. I once again sent their administration an e-mail relating my experience with their company last year. I did not receive any response from them, but I DID receive a call from an East Indian from their India location, saying that this would not happen again. Do I believe them? No. But I did cancel my Visa account and re-opened another. Maybe this will help - we will see.

Beware of Symantec/Norton products. Once they charge your account, you will have a very hard time recovering your money.
