Cancellation of account - Internet service provide

I cancelled my account 2 months ago and now your company wants $10 to close the account. Your customer service in India kept offering me a free month if I would not cancel but I kept telling them I cancelled 2 months ago and they said, no I was mistaken eventhough I was given a confirmation number. I could barely understand the person and when I asked them to repeat something they decided yelling the information would solve the problem. What I needed was enunciation. I have called 3 times to cancel, the first time I gave up because of the long waits on hold, the rep saying they did not have the authority to cancel my account and my inability to understand what they were saying. When I said I would not pay over the phone because I want evidence of payment and a paper trail, the rep kept trying to give me a free month if I would not cancel and said they would take my check info over the phone if I really wanted to cancel. I have never had such poor customer service or felt I was being taken advantage of as I have with this company. The BBB is going to hear from me - I should have read the reviews before I signed up with them, should have, should have. My mistake - any company that has so many more complaints than kudos should raise a red flag.
