A while ago, I purchased a convertible that didn't have a rear window defogger. Living in Syracuse, you need a rear window defroster in the winter. I took my car to Rayco for this service. It cost around $500 to have this done. After about a week, it stopped working. I took it in. They said they fixed it, blah blah blah. So a few days later I have to use it, and guess what, it didn't work.
I take it back in. They call me up to tell me it works just fine and it is not broken. They call me back in to show me that it is working. Well apparently they just assumed because the light came on on the switch to turn it on, that it was working! I couldn't even believe it. Apparently that was all the proof they felt they had to give me that it was working, and they sent me on my way.
Being that there was no fog on my back window, I couldn't really argue. So again, the next time my window fogs up, I try to use it and it doesn't work. I take it BACK in for the fourth time. This time they say that they had to resodder (sp?) something and that is why it wasn't working. I was assured it was working. I saw a spot that was indeed resoddered, so I thought finally, I am done with this place. WRONG! So I take it back in again for the fifth time! I was pissed off at this point because it was never just a quick appointment with them.
I'd have to leave my car there and have a ride back every time and then they'd call me the next day or so! So anyway, I got really upset with the manager (I think his name was Mike). He treated me like I was being a pain in his butt for bringing my car in repeatedly, even though the stupid thing wasn't working! This wasn't just some cheap thing either. So this time they assure me it is working again, that they replaced some of the lines (whatever the lines are that actually do the defrosting on the back window). They said that while cleaning the window I must have broken one.
Well, this couldn't have happened because I don't clean my windows in the winter. They said that regardless, one was broken and that made it not work since there was a break in the circuit. Again, I believe them that it is working, and they even took this device to it to show that there was energy going out through some lines or something. Well, to no surprise, it didn't work. I called up the manager and he hung up on me as soon as he heard my name! So I go into the store, and this time I go in threatening to take them to court over this (I had paperwork in my hand ready to fill out). I made them document it everytime I took it in there, so I had proof. So he says he is sick of me, that I'm a b*, blah blah blah. He says just to get me out of his hair he will send me to another place (Nico's) and if they can find something wrong with it he will pay for it to be fixed.
If there is nothing wrong with it, then I need to stop going there (yeah, like I'd keep wasting my days and time to make up problems with this and just cause myself all of this stress). So anyway, I take it to Nico's and within 10 minutes he tells me that two wires were crossed. That's it. Simple fix. I was in and out of there within 30 minutes!
I was half tempted to call up Rayco and do a "I told you so" or neener neener to him. I really wish I could have seen his face when he received the bill from Nico's and realized that Rayco really is just a bunch of idiots who can't even isntall their own products correctly. But, I was too big for that. I figured I was done with them and didn't want to waste anymore of my time on them. I only wish that the repair would have cost them more!
To anyone who is thinking of getting any auto work done in Syracuse, DO NOT use Rayco. They will mistreat you, lie to you, and screw up your car.
