My husband must use off street parking when working this particular job in Philadelphia. He uses the new kiosks and swipes a debit card to pay for time. The kiosks calculates the time from the purchase time. He tries to get to the kiosk as close to the time to expire but that is not always feasible, after all he is working. Those five or ten minute increments that have already been paid for soon add up. Imagine over a day, a week, a year, just how much money the city has ripped off the consumer with this new technology. And there are thousands of these meters!!! It's bad enough commuting to work in the city with the price of gas, then to add insult to injury and get ripped off at the parking meter.
