I turned my leased vehicle three months early and was told by the people at the car dealership this would be "no problem". They called Fifth Third Auto Leasing to find out the pay off. I paid $1094.28 for the remainder of the lease.
The next thing you know, I received a bill from Fifth Third stating I owed them $740.00 for "early termination fee" and an additional $365.30 for "excessive wear and tear".
When I called for an explaination, they said the excess wear and tear was for worn tires! I said this is not excessive for a four year old car, it is normal wear and tear. Furthermore, I never missed a tune-up and I am a 50 year old woman who drove the car to work and back, basically. I was not out there tearing up the streets in this car, it was never in an accident, and it was well cared for.
They couldn't care less. The dealership paid the $740.00 fee for me, but I still owe $365.30. Fifth Third won't even discuss it or budge one inch on their stand. They are unreasonable and rude and I feel these charges are fraudulant and completely ridiculous.
Oh, and by the way, they have the nerve to send me the bill the DAY BEFORE it is due! So I'm sure they will tack on some interest and late charges.
Who can stop this raping of honest hard-working citizens?
